Centre for Innovative Exchange
Wilfrid Laurier University Global Innovation Exchange, Waterloo, Ontario
The Wilfrid Laurier University Global Innovation Exchange (GIE) will be a 215,000 sq. ft. signature facility with a bold presence on Waterloo's University Avenue. Housing the School of Business and Economics and the department of Mathematics, this $103-million project will allow the university to meet the growing demand for enrolment and expand the university's ability to deliver integrated and engaged learning opportunities to students at the local and global levels.
The four-storey structure will feature seven lecture halls (75-300 seats each) a two-level, 1,100-seat auditorium, computer and math labs, meeting rooms, administrative offices, atrium and cafe.
RJC will be providing building envelope consulting services for the GIE building. With RJC's assistance the building will be designed to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver Certification, including the LEED Durability Building Credit. The facility is anticipated to be completed by 2014.
