Norm is a recognized expert on parking structure design and restoration, and is the principal author and editor of the Maintenance Manual for the Canadian Parking Association. He has also written several articles and presented seminars on the evaluation and restoration of post-tensioned structures, and participated in writing new structural design codes to avoid problems experienced by earlier structures.
Norm's designs for parking facilities have received multiple awards. His wealth of experience in structural engineering also includes many high-rise office buildings and towers, retail complexes, residential developments, renovations and the evaluation of existing structures. His recent Calgary projects include Energy.Environment.Experiential Learning (EEEL) and the Mount Royal College parking structure.
With his background in structural engineering and corporate management, Norm brings a perspective to projects that is founded on both strong engineering fundamentals and an understanding of his clients' needs.

Norm joined RJC's Vancouver office in 1973 after completing his education at the University of British Columbia, where he received a National Research Council Scholarship. He was transferred to Calgary in 1977 and became Branch Manager and Principal in 1979.
When he isn't working on buildings, Norm works on the assessment and repair of back-country trail bridges in Canada’s national parks, and he is an expert witness for a variety of litigation matters.
