As Managing Principal of RJC Toronto's Structural Engineering team, Mike is responsible for delivering innovative structural engineering solutions for the firms’ most notable projects. From institutional to residential, and commercial to transit sectors, Mike provides creative structural designs that turn architectural vision into reality. He has a reputation for providing clients with valuable input and thoughtful leadership on demanding projects. His proven track record includes successful delivery of numerous challenging fast-tracked projects by providing hands-on service to his clients while leading a creative team of engineers.
Mike's approach is to work closely with the entire design team in a fully integrated design process to produce structural systems which support a holistic building solution, balancing economic, social and environmental needs while meeting the client's goals in cost-effective ways. Mike continues to make a positive impact in the industry as a strong advocate of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) as a model for collaboration, through projects such as St Jerome's University Campus Renewal and Trafalgar Park Arena Revitalization, both amongst the first IPD Level 3 projects in Canada.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Toronto and a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario. Active in the industry since 1994, he has contributed to the development of sustainability design initiatives through his active involvement in RJC’s Sustainable Design Group and the Canadian Green Building Council Education Committee. Mike has designed many of RJC's high profile sustainable projects including CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory, which achieved LEED Canada NC Platinum Certification. In all LEED projects he is part of, Mike ensures structural solutions are well selected and integrated to address environmental and sustainability issues.
