Matt’s tenacity for project success shines through on RJCs large multi-faceted retail renovations and expansions, which can appear to take on a life of their own. The consistency of his creativity and energy over lengthy design and construction periods provides inspiration for the team.
Matt’s leadership on noteworthy projects, such as, Yorkdale Mall East, Yorkdale Mall Southwest and Square One City Walk has earned him a strong reputation in the industry as someone who delivers creative structural solutions with practicality and an efficiency required in this competitive sector.
As a Project Engineer, Matt is involved in all stages of numerous projects from schematic and conceptual design through to the construction stage. He is responsible for coordinating with architects and subconsultants, managing all aspects of the structural design with his team, as well as writing project specifications and design briefs. He is a strong mentor to his team members, providing oversight and guidance on all aspects of the project and structural materials.
Matt graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree of Applied Science, specializing in structural engineering, and began working on structural glass and steel structure projects encompassing glass bridges, retail storefronts and very unique steel staircases. He has also had the unique experience of working on iconic projects such as the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa.
