Grant Newfield

Grant excels in all aspects of design and coordination, from the preliminary design stage through to building signoff. He is known for incorporating cost-effective solutions that make designs easier to build. He is well-respected by architects, developers and contractors for his attention to detail and cooperative working style.
Grant graduated from the University of Calgary in 1989. He then worked for firms in Calgary and Montreal while completing his Masters at McGill University. Grant joined RJC as a Design Engineer in 1994, became an Associate in 2002, and became a Principal in 2007. Grant is also the Chair of RJC’s Structural Technical Group, which is responsible for the technical development of all our structural engineering staff.
In addition to his professional activities, he lectures on seismic and wood frame design. Grant recently provided consultation to the Government of British Columbia on code changes required to allow six-storey wood building construction and presented the structural aspects at several speaking engagements.
