BMO Centre Expansion Phase 2
This addition to the Calgary Stampede & Exhibition BMO Centre was designed and built by the same project team that completed the original Phase I expansion.
This continuity established a true sense of ownership, pride and great enthusiasm for the project.
The addition features a 50,000 sq.ft. expansion of the exhibition hall, added breakout and meeting spaces, a two-level public corridor connected to the LRT station, Stampede Casino, and a two-level ‘back-of-house’ service building.
The expansion was a key element of the Calgary Stampede’s vision of transforming Stampede Park into a year-round gathering place and entertainment destination hub.
The existing facility was designed to be expanded by the addition of two new exhibition spaces, and the current addition is designed to provide support for the final exhibition hall in the future.
The structure of the clear span exhibition spaces takes advantage of the pitched roof façade of the halls using deep and relatively light trusses to achieve the clear spans while supporting an extensive catwalk system required to provide overhead services for show space below.
