Barry Kinakin

Barry has been instrumental in the expansion of RJC Building Science services in Vancouver. Commended for his expertise in building envelope and structural evaluation and restoration, Barry manages a group of engineers and technologists to deliver these services. Offering a wide spectrum of services, Barry and his group continue to contribute to the growth and development of best practices for building science.  Currently, Barry’s primary focus is the development of Vancouver’s Building Condition Assessment practice, including Whole Building Condition Assessments, Building Envelope Condition Assessments, Depreciation Reports and Warranty Reviews.

While responsible for the leadership and management of a building science group, Barry remains directly involved in his projects. He utilizes the knowledge he has gained over his many years of practice and understands the needs and expectations of clients.  He translates this into client focused project delivery. His experience includes multi-year roofing evaluation programs, Building Condition Assessments, Building Envelope Condition Assessments, Depreciation Reports and Warranty Reviews, and the remediation of envelope systems that have failed on multi-unit residential and commercial properties.  

After gaining valuable experience in the engineering field for five years, Barry joined RJC. He is a member of numerous industry organizations that provide guidance on practical, regulatory, technical and business needs for building science professionals
