Canadian National Institute for the Blind Centre (CNIB)
RJC was the prime consultant and contract administrator for the renewal of the pedestrian bridge spanning over Bayview Avenue at the CNIB Headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.
Our involvement at this site dates back to 2004, when we conducted our first detailed assessment of the structural condition of the bridge, which was originally constructed in the 1950’s.
Since 2004, RJC has performed update structural condition assessments and has overseen immediate repair programs to the bridge structure, culminating in the 2014 Pedestrian Bridge Renewal Project.
The project brought the 60 year old bridge into this century, while minimizing disruptions to traffic flow and building operation.
ThePedestrian Bridge Renewal Project includes repair of the deteriorated bridge deck and stairwell towers, accessibility upgrades (including elevator installation) and installation of a new steel framed glazed canopy over the bridge.
