Prominently situated at the west end of Jasper Avenue, The Pearl is a 121m tall, 36-storey residential high-rise with 160 residential units, retail on the main floor and 295 below-grade parking stalls. Completed in 2015, The Pearl was the tallest residential tower in Edmonton, and was the first building to surpass 100m in height outside the downtown core. As the building envelope consultant, RJC reviewed the tower's thermal integrity, air barrier and vapour retarder continuity details, as well as, unitized, triple glazed curtain wall on the tower and granite and metal panel cladding systems on the podium. Ensuring the ease of the building envelope’s components constructability, was an important deliverable for this project. RJC provided technical support throughout the design and construction process including the review of the overseas curtainwall glazing manufacturing facility. RJC reviewed the facility’s quality control procedures, as well as full scale mock-up testing for performance of the system.
