The project involves the completion of the phased demolition of the existing North Building at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus. The North Building Reconstruction Phase B involves replacement of the existing building with a visually striking facility that is technologically innovative, energy efficient, and ecologically sustainable. Covering approximately 20,494 sq.m., the building is six storeys tall with a mechanical penthouse. Construction involves connection to the recently completed Deerfield Hall and includes new space to house academic departments and smaller sized classrooms geared to tutorial and small-group activities, collaborative research spaces, technology support and new space for the Academic Skills Centre. The Humanities and Social Sciences Departments were consolidated, and new instructional, study and event space was created.
