The station houses a technical training room for the use of Fire Rescue crews south of the river, a duty gear storage room separated from the main facility to ventilate firefighters’ toxic gear after a fire, and office space for Fire Prevention Officers.

Other building components include a hose tower with stairwell, a wash bay in the apparatus bay, a laundry room, conference room, kitchen / dining area, as well as fitness, locker and washroom space.

The facility was recently recognized with a Gold Station Style Award in the Satellite Station category from Fire Chief Magazine, selected from more than 80 entries from throughout North America. The facility was praised for how much function was put into the narrow lot, the abundance of natural light, thoughtful layout and environmentally-friendly features.
