Connected to the Alberta Children’s Hospital, the Lot 1 Parkade provides parking to visitors and staff 24/7 throughout the year.

When it was originally built, Lot 1 Parkade was a covered, enclosed, heated parkade with a capacity of approximately 656 parking stalls divided over three levels. One on grade and two suspended levels.

The parkade was designed and constructed to allow for the future addition of two further parking levels.

The expansion project set out to complete the two additional levels of parking accommodated in the original design to provide approximately 510 additional parking stalls on the upper levels.

The goal of the project was to build the additional parking with as little disruption to the existing parkade as possible.RJC provided structural engineering, parking planning and building envelope services. There was no option to close the parkade during construction, resulting in the team working together on a construction and phasing strategy to minimize impact on parking and pedestrian access throughout construction.

Together, with our project partners, the project was completed on schedule and under budget.
