The Kwanlin Dün First Nation New Education Hub (KDFN) is a new facility that fosters community and cultural connections.

The project team consulted with the Nation to collaboratively deliver an education centre that will serve the community and provide future generations with a welcoming space that provides positive learning experiences.Located in Whitehorse, BC, the hub will be a cornerstone of the KFDN community.

It houses spaces for a K-12 school, adult education and employment, income assistance, and a pathways to empowerment program.

It also incorporates language and culture programs, and the Dusk’a Head Start Family Learning Centre.

The building will have approximately 3,400 sq. m of gross floor area, accommodating 80+ staff.The structure consists of a combination of mass timber and light wood-frame components, and is targeting Net Zero Carbon.

The space seamlessly integrates interior and exterior elements by way of a tall glass atrium, a courtyard, several walking paths and crosswalks.
