The Lake District Hospital and Health Centre is a new hospital for the Northern British Columbia community that was built to replace the old health care facility.

This project brought together medical and health services for the surrounding district under one-roof.In response to the local climate, exterior insulated walls with metal cladding on thermally broken girts ensured thermal performance and low maintenance during the service life of the building.

Curtain wall glazing was used in the public areas to permit large areas of glazing overlooking the spectacular views from the site.

Glulam columns and beams brought visual warmth to the building and reflected the basis of the local economy.

The new facility provided the community with acute care, emergency services, diagnostic imaging, a laboratory and a pharmacy.Sustainable elements was a major focus on this project and is targeting LEED® Gold certification.

The project was also completed months ahead of its expected timeline.
