Replacing the aged Bowman Arts Centre, the Lethbridge Community Arts Centre is now a focal point for the arts community in downtown Lethbridge.

The Centre showcases local artists through the exhibition gallery and serves as a collaborative home for Lethbridge area arts groups.

The University of Lethbridge’s Conservatory of Music will also take up a portion of the building for office, practice and recital space.

The 33,000 sq.ft. facility includes classrooms, meeting spaces, a dance studio, 2D and 3D studios for clay and sculpture, drawing, painting, print making and textiles and a community space for theatre, music and dance rehearsals.

The base structure of the building is comprised of concrete construction up to and including the second floor, with wood (timber & glulam) structures continuing to and including the roof. The architectural vision was to have the structure, mechanical and electrical services exposed - creating the need for a highly collaborative design process.

Acoustical requirements to isolate the music practice rooms from each other, and the rest of the space, also required in-depth planning and coordination between all consultants.
