The Pearl is a 36-storey, 174-unit, residential high-rise located in downtown Edmonton, and the first building constructed outside of the downtown core to surpass a 100-metre height.

The building utilizes unitized curtain wall construction with triple glazing, and the podium area incorporates granite and metal panel cladding.

As the building envelope consultant, RJC provided technical support throughout the duration of the project, which included a review of the overseas curtain wall manufacturing facility to confirm their quality control procedures, and full scale mock-up testing for performance of the system.

RJC reviewed the tower's thermal integrity, air barrier and vapour retarder continuity details, as well as curtain wall and metal panel cladding system materials.

Ensuring the ease of building envelope components' constructability was an important project deliverable.
