Originally constructed in 1912, the Simmons Mattress Building is a historical landmark situated along the Riverwalk, in the heart of Calgary’s East Village.

The former busy mattress manufacturing factory is a two-storey heritage brick building, over a century old that has now become a community hub for its much sought-after restaurant tenants.

The building was historically one of many manufacturing buildings along the Bow River.

Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) began the task of revitalizing the East Village into a bustling new community and the Simmons Building remains a landmark feature.

The project saw extensive assessment, restoration and redevelopment, while keeping intact much of the original, century-old features, including the brick walls, hardwood floors and original feather chute.RJC were structural consultants for the restoration and rejuvenation of this building.

The restored Simmons building now hosts some of the most exciting food and beverage tenants, complete with a rooftop patio and full access to Calgary’s Riverwalk.
