Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000

 

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a Construction Field Review Representative, responsible for the review of on-site work on a wide variety of projects in and around Metro Vancouver as a Construction Field Review Representative, you will be faced with a myriad of challenges that require you to be versatile, pragmatic and willing to resolve issues.  The successful candidate will be comfortable dealing with clients, communicating with contractors, and working in a team-based environment. The focus of this position will be site review of structural components on concrete, wood frame, structural steel, and mass-timber projects.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Working under the direction of senior staff members and the Structural Engineer of Record, you will perform field review of structural components of buildings under construction 
  • Reviewing shop drawings and assisting the design team in reviewing and responding to site inquires
  • Representing RJC at project site meetings with contractors, owner representatives and other consultants
  • Collating materials test reports and miscellaneous clerical duties related to this position 
  • Preparing field review reports and keeping up to date with Site Instructions (SI-s), Requests for Information (RFI-s) from the construction team.
  • Assisting Project Engineers in developing budgets for field review activities and monitoring those budgets over the course of construction
  • Coordinating structural work with other disciplines on site
  • Bringing site and design issues to the attention of the RJC design team

 

Professional Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma in Building Engineering/Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent OR Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited university – courses in concrete, steel, wood design preferred.
  • Must be familiar with the relevant parts of CSA A23.3, CSA S16 and CSA A23.1&2 standards
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASTTBC or EGBC

Experience:

  • Site review experience is desired
  • Previous structural engineering experience an asset
  • Experience in construction and/or consulting field an asset
  • Must have valid BC driver’s license
