RJC’s fall protection and glazing practices have grown significantly under Leonard’s leadership - he is an emerging industry leader in these areas. He has also added considerable depth to industry on the topic of seismic retrofit of building components. People who know Leonard admire his integrity and ethics.
Leonard is the principal editor of the 2010 revisions to the Glazing Systems Specifications Manual, the de facto industry standard. He is very active with APEGBC and sits on the Building Code Committee. Mentoring defines part of Leonard’s daily routine. He received RJC’s Rick Banman Mentorship Award, recognition of his commitment to helping others achiever their goals through mentoring, coaching, active listening, advising and guidance. A natural educator, Leonard is a part-time instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in the School of Construction and the Environment. He is the Former Chair of the Canadian Glass Association’s Technical Committee and Former Chair of the Professional Practice Committee for the Structural Engineers Association of British Columbia. He routinely presents best practices, emerging technologies and current standards at conferences across Canada.
Leonard completed his bachelor degree at the University of British Columbia, and his master’s at the University of Calgary. Prior to joining RJC, Leonard worked in the fall protection manufacturing industry, and then as a speciality structural engineering consultant primarily servicing the architectural manufacturing industry.
