Rein Matiisen

With a depth of experience few engineers can match, Rein enjoys the challenge of technically demanding projects. He is able to provide practical solutions for the most complex and challenging projects, whether they are steel, wood or concrete.

Rein takes a broad view of every project he is involved in. Peers and clients alike respect Rein for his foresight and practical thinking. His depth of technical knowledge combined with over 45 years of experience allows him to develop, consider and evaluate structural solutions that are ‘outside the box’ to bring best value to the entire project. His projects include the Calgary Zoo Panda Passage, Bow Valley College Redevelopment and Expansion, and the University of Calgary Taylor Family Digital Library.

A native of Central Alberta, Rein earned his bachelor and masters’ degrees at the University of Alberta. After working for a contractor in northern Alberta as a project engineer, he joined RJC.
