The Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton includes the world's largest YMCA.

The 330,000 sq. ft. facility in Calgary's southeast services surrounding communities with two ice rinks, three gymnasiums, multi-purpose meeting and conference rooms, studio and theatre space, a full service Calgary Public Library branch and multiple sport and leisure pools.

The long-span facility is Calgary’s largest recreational centre.

As structural engineer, RJC was instrumental in initiating and coordinating the geotechnical aspects to revise initial pile supported foundation, to a spread footing foundation, saving almost $3M.

The impressive skylight is a notable feature of the facility where 3D Revit modelling was essential for success. The unique design provides ample natural light through the undulating, irregular roof and triangulated architecturally exposed structural steel.

In addition to the amenities and aesthetics of the facility, the project team utilized leading-edge design in the competition pool with a Myrtha system – an exclusive and technologically advanced stainless steel panel and edge modular system, as opposed to cast-in-place concrete.
