The Penticton Community Centre includes the expansion of an existing lap pool from six lanes to ten lanes, the relocation of an existing fitness centre and the addition of a new aquatics space with a lobby, leisure pools, hot pools, play features, saunas and change rooms.

Due to Recreation Infrastructure Canada’s grant deadlines, the project team had only 15 months from project inception to completion.

The success of this fast-track project was achieved through multiple tender packages and an integrated design team approach.

The project incorporates several significant structural features including steel V-columns, a concourse comprised of glulam frames, expressive cast-in-place concrete pool features, and cantilevered support steelwork for the new waterslide.

For the facility’s waterslide, RJC interlaced the 3-D waterslide model from the supplier with our own 3-D model, ensuring placement of the slide and its supports was fully integrated with the base building structural design.
