Working alongside Iredale Architects, RJC provided structural engineering consulting services for the eight classroom addition to the R.C.

Garnett Elementary School in Langley, BC.

RJC was the structural engineer for the original school building.

The 9,000 sq. ft., two-storey addition was built to increase capacity by approximately 200 students and includes new kindergarten space and seven new classrooms.

In order for the existing elementary school to remain operational throughout construction, a safe work area was created and a fence was installed to avoid interference from the students and public.

Utilizing wood-frame construction, the addition was platform-framed construction with all of the bearing walls stacked through the height of the building and engineered wood joists as floor and roof-framing.
