The Chan Gunn Pavilion is designed to explore new technology and create a new home for sports medicine and exercise science at UBC.

Located adjacent to the Thunderbird Sports Centre, the centre provides an on-campus Sports Medicine Centre and Clinic for athletic performance improvement and sports related injuries.

Part of UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, the facility provides research and clinical training programs for the UBC Division of Sports Medicine and School of Kinesiology.

This 20,000 sq. ft. facility was designed by our Vancouver structural team to LEED Gold standards.

The building includes the new Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic, rehabilitation space and a gymnasium which includes a lab with research components. Many structural materials were used in the construction of this building including masonry, concrete and steel.

The suspended floor level was designed with ComSlab to provide a light solution for long clear spans.
