As Prime Consultant, RJC Engineers provided building enclosure and energy consulting for two enclosure renewal projects on their Abbotsford campus.

One of the two renewal projects is the enclosure rehabilitation at Building A-East was recently completed.

The building is getting new curtain wall glazing assemblies and composite metal cladding, with added insulation in the walls, to create a durable enclosure, that will improve the energy performance and upgrade the buildings appearance.

RJC conducted energy studies on both buildings, with the objective of investigating the energy performance of the existing buildings, and identification of system modifications and synergies to reduce overall building consumption, while also improving occupant comfort.

Several Energy Conservation Measures have been applied to the design for the building renewal, to provide savings in energy consumption and Greenhouse Gas emissions. The original Building A-East had some structural deficits that were uncovered during the rehabilitation.

RJC’s diversity of service offerings allowed us to be able to provide timely coordinated structural design for correction of the existing detailing, as an additional unexpected scope, nimbly incorporating the work into the project as it proceeds.
