RJC Engineers, in association with Stantec, were engaged by Alberta Health Services to provide Structural Engineering consulting services for this landmark healthcare facility located in south Calgary.

Due to the province’s aging population and recognized shortage of suitable healthcare resources, there was a need to transform the future of healthcare in Alberta.

The South Health Campus combines the best-in care practices with the latest in technology, research and wellness education.

With an estimated 750,000 outpatient visits each year, the South Health Campus provides users access to numerous specialized services and quality supportive care.

The facility is home to over 5,000 staff and approximately 500 doctors and includes a teaching hospital, a Professional Learning Center and numerous research facilities.Structural contract documents were issued during the overall schematic design and design development stage to facilitate the construction schedule.

The structural systems were designed in such a way as to allow flexibility when dealing with any changes around occupancy options for Alberta Health Services.
