HSBC Place, located in downtown Edmonton, is a 317,000 sq. ft., 18-storey tower constructed in the 1980s.

The intent of this redevelopment project was to optimize the competitive position of HSBC in the office marketplace and create a building that meets “AA” classification.

The scope included demolition down to the superstructure, recladding utilizing a triple-glazed curtain wall system and floor-to-ceiling view glass in the office areas, new mechanical and electrical systems, and a revitalized two-storey lobby where a second floor structural glass bridge was also installed.

The adjacent parkade restoration included structural repair, corrosion mitigation and exterior recladding.

The building remained partially occupied during design and construction. HSBC Place LEED® Gold certified, Well Gold certified, BOMA Best Platinum and Wired Certified Platinum to provide tenants with a healthy workplace.

It won the Outstanding Building of the Year Award (TOBY) – 250,000 - 499,999 sq. ft. from BOMA Edmonton and BOMA Canada in 2022, and BOMA International in 2023.
