On October 18, 2018, the two-day National Trust Conference kicked off in New Brunswick at the Fredericton Convention Center. The conference is Canada’s largest heritage learning and networking event and is hosted in a different region of Canada every year. Ranging from professionals and planners, policy makers, advocates, students, to elected officials, this national conference brings together a wide-range of people keeping Canada’s heritage alive, this year’s conference explored the theme of “Opportunity Knocks: Heritage as a Social, Economic and Placemaking Force”.

The conference explored the transformative power of heritage conservation and restoration to help turn places around and galvanize communities. RJC Engineers’ (RJC) Michael Park, Nensi Baboci, Trento Squair and Nikolas Marshall-Moritz attended the conference and manned the booth, giving them the opportunity to see first hand inter-disciplinary insights on diverse topics including heritage-led development, sustainability, museum/historic site regeneration and Indigenous heritage.

RJC is also very proud to have earned an award for the cSPACE King Edward School project, in Category A: projects completed between 2012 and 2017 that have creatively renewed or transformed historic places or landscapes for new uses.
