A new wing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital officially opened on July 25, 2018. The new state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Building adds 245,000 sq. ft. of space to the hospital and new dedicated corridors for patient transfer from the existing hospital wing. The project also includes expansions to the day surgery and neonatal intensive care areas, the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre and a new rooftop helipad.

The building exterior used distinct forms of various materials, strategically arranged to integrate with both the existing hospital wing and surrounding low-rise buildings. RJC were the structural engineers on the expansion, which is targeting LEED certification.
